Gallery Management and Exhibition Studies

The Gallery Manangement and Exhibition studies course was created by London Miles Gallery curator and manager, Tina Ziegler. The course will teach you the tools and requirements needed to work in an art gallery and manage art exhibitions, either on your own or for a commerical space.

The three week, 8 hour program will help you understand the day to day management of an art space, the responsiblities of a gallery manager and how to create, develop and organize an art exhibition from start to finish.

Course Plan

Gallery Mangement and Exhibition studies.
Directed by Tina Ziegler

The Gallery Management and Exhibition studies course will teach you what goes on behind the scenes of a commerical art gallery and will answer the following questions:

-What is an art gallery? The traditional vs. the new.
-What is a gallery manger? The responsiblities, the skills and necessities to be a good manager.
-Where do you source art?
-How do you price and sell art? The basics.
-How do you market an art gallery?
-How to organize an exhibition. From start to finish.
-How to "curate" an exhibition. Discussing show concepts, art selection and layout design.
-How to stand out with your exhibitions and create interest.

After the three week course you will be prepared to enter a gallery enviroment and understand the day to day responsiblities, the long term goals and the individual tasks that need to be completed in order to organize a successful exhibition and manage an art gallery.
